The battle would be between Jack Johnson, the first black man to hold the title of world's heavyweight boxing champion, and James J. Jeffries, the former champion who had retired undefeated. Reno's two daily newspapers the Nevada State Jounral and Reno Evening Gazette rushed to keep track of it all, and this is their story. ^^
