The spike holding the mirror seems to have been hammered into the wall, when in fact, the piece is actually suspended from a cleat on the mirrors back. The spike is purely decorative. The iron body is finished in burnt wax and the plain mirror makes this functional. Barry suggests using two over the double vanity in the master bathroom.
